Bio

Erik H. Nyce was admitted to the practice of law in 1987, and became associated with DeCaro Doran in 1997.  He became a partner of the firm in 2006.

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1960, Mr. Nyce completed his undergraduate studies at Emory University, earning a B.A. in Economics in 1983.  While attending Emory, he completed a year of study abroad at the University de Grenoble, France. He obtained his J.D. in 1987 from Wake Forest Law School. Mr. Nyce also completed courses in Business Administration at the University of Maryland, and Spanish Language at Berlitz.

Erik is barred in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He is currently a member of the Defense Litigation Group, where his practice is concentrated in the areas of Civil and Criminal trial practice including construction litigation, premises liability, negligence defense and insurance coverage litigation, and appellate practice. He regularly appears in the state and federal courts of Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia. He also appears before a number of administrative agencies.

In addition to serving the legal community as an active member of the Maryland State Bar and Prince George's County Bar Associations, he has served his community through the Warm Nights program preparing and serving meals for the homeless during the holiday season; Emory Volunteers at local food banks; Anne Arundel Hospital, infant blood donor program, and numerous other charity and community events and organizations.

Erik served as counsel to the Prince George's County Board of Elections from 1993 to 2003 and received numerous commendations upon his leaving. During this tenure he was responsible for legal advice and oversight of federal, state and county elections.
