Chris Dunn was recently inducted into the ranks of the “best group of trial lawyers” in the nation as the newest member of ABOTA.  The American Board of Trial Advocates is a national association with chapters in all fifty states.  Its mission is to “preserve and promote the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment.

Today, the Maryland Court of Appeals issued its opinion in James Coleman v. Soccer Association of Columbia.  In September of 2012, the Court of Appeals heard arguments on this case and the general  consensus was that the Court would use this case to abrogate the law of contributory negligence in Maryland.  However, the Court decision, written by Justice Eldridge, maintained the law of contributory negligence and instead deferred again to the Maryland General Assembly to change the law.

The Atlantic Coast Conference “ACC” has retained Chris Dunn to defend the organization in the lawsuit filed by the University of Maryland in Prince George’s County Circuit Court. The basis of the legal battle is Maryland’s refusal to pay the $52 million exit fee to the ACC upon their withdrawal to join the “Big Ten.”
