DeCaro Doran Holds Fundraiser for Prince George’s Committee to Elect the Sitting Judges

April 1, 2016

A fundraiser to Retain the Sitting Judges of Prince George’s County was hosted by the law firms of DeCaro Doran and Alexander & Cleaver on Wednesday evening, March 23, 2016 at the DeCaro Doran offices in Bowie, Maryland. Nearly 150 lawyers, local businessmen, and citizens attended the function and more than $30,000 was raised in donations to support the election of the Sitting Judges – Herman C. Dawson, Dorothy Michelle Engle, Karen Holliday Mason and Erik H. Nyce.

Under the Maryland Constitution, Circuit Court judges must run in the General Election following their appointment and, then again, after serving  a term of 15 years in order to retain their seat in the judiciary.   The Honorable Herman C. Dawson, who has served admirably on the Prince George’s County Circuit Court for the past 15 years, as well as the newly appointed Circuit Court judges Dorothy Michelle Engel, Karen Holliday Mason, and Erik H. Nyce, formerly a partner at DeCaro Doran, are running opposed and need the support of the legal community to preserve their positions on the bench.
