The recent decisions by the Maryland Court of Appeals in Mummert v. Alizadeh (2013) and Spangler v. McQuitty (2015) establish clarification of the statute of limitations under Maryland’s Wrongful Death statute, Md. Code Ann., Cts. & Jud. Proc. § 3-904.

Recent Developments - Virginia
The Advisory Committee on Rules of Court, of the Judicial Council of Virginia, is considering changing current Virginia Rule of Evidence 2:607 relating to impeachment of a witness.
On September 28, 2016, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, part of the federal Health and Human Services Department, issued a rule prohibiting the use of pre-dispute binding arbitration agreements for long-term care facilities that accept federal money. 
Recently, the 4th Circuit made a ruling that will likely result in some sleepless nights for owners of closely held businesses.  In overruling a decision by the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia, the appellate court found that the wife of a businessman was not covered under the liability policy on a company car.
