About the Firm

July 7, 2021

DeCaro Doran is very pleased to announce that Steven C. Bergeron and Elaine R. Wilford have both joined the firm as Of Counsel.

Steve Bergeron received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and his law degree at the American University School of Law.  He is originally from upstate New York and is barred in both Virginia and the District of Columbia. Steve has been practicing primarily in Northern Virginia since 1996, for most of those years as an insurance defense lawyer, trying cases throughout the Commonwealth.  In 2018, he opened his own practice in Fairfax, and recently joined DeCaro Doran as of Counsel.  Steve’s experience is broad, having practiced on both sides of the bar representing defendants and plaintiffs.  In addition to general insurance defense, Steve has experience in product liability, premises liability and medical malpractice.

Elaine Wilford attended the University of Baltimore for both undergraduate and law school.  Additionally, she completed her Master’s in Environment Science from Johns Hopkins University.  She is admitted to practice in Maryland and Pennsylvania.  A lifelong Marylander, Elaine’s career includes time in the JAG Corps at the Pentagon and the Office of the Maryland Attorney General, although the bulk of her practice has been as an insurance defense attorney in Maryland.  Her focus has been in general liability insurance defense, construction defect, medical malpractice, and both domestic litigation and wills and estate law.

Additionally, Jennifer Nigro and Sarah Osborne have joined Christine Miles as Summer Associates at the firm.  Christine returns for her second summer, working around her training for the JAG Corps upon graduation from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2022.  Jennifer Nigro has also completed her second year of legal study at the University of Maryland, after receiving her B.S. from the University of Vermont in 2019 in Political Science and Computer Science.  Sarah Osborne will be entering her second year at the University of Maryland School of Law this fall.  She received her B.S. degree from Clemson University where she competed in Division I soccer.

We welcome Steve and Elaine as new attorneys with the firm and Jennifer and Sarah to our litigation support team.
